New designs for the Mount Gambier Technical College have been released with a focus on integrated industry-specific workshops.
It comes as the four key study streams are also announced:
- Agri-tech for careers in forestry, agriculture and manufacturing using the latest technology
- Multi-trades for careers as plumbers, carpenter and electricians
- Early Childhood and Education for careers as Early Childhood workers, educators and teachers
- Health and Social Support for careers in aged care and into nursing, allied health.
The programs on offer were selected as a result of ongoing industry consultation and future economic opportunities for the Limestone Coast.
The technical college will be part of the Research, Education and Training Precinct on Wireless Road and will offer a range of programs to provide employment pathways leading directly to local industries.
Precinct Leader Peter Gandolfi said the programs available at the Technical College will complement the options offered by TAFE SA and UniSA.
Planning approvals are underway, but the Research, Education and Training Precinct will be reinvigorated with investment in the technical college, the Centre for Forestry Excellence and upgrades to TAFE SA.

Mount Gambier Technical College will provide students in Years 10, 11 and 12 with access to programs on a part-time basis while staying enrolled in their home school.
It will not only support public school students from across the Limestone Coast region but will also be open to students from non-government schools, with short stay accommodation also available.
The State Government has invested $208 million to build five technical colleges in South Australia, three of which will be opened in metropolitan Adelaide, one in Port Augusta and one in Mount Gambier, by 2026.
