Partnership Priorities and Advocacy 2024 – 2025

The City of Mount Gambier aims to continue strengthening its partnerships with local, state and federal governments and stakeholders to advocate for community opportunities and challenges and work together to provide improved services for the city and the Limestone Coast region. This document is a valuable resource used to guide many conversations and highlight issues of importance with all of our partners.

Local Affordable Housing Plan

Like many communities, Mount Gambier is experiencing challenges regarding accessible and affordable housing. This plan represents a step forward in collective efforts to address the need for the Mount Gambier community.

Through collaborative efforts with stakeholders, our goal is to create a diverse and inclusive community where everyone can find suitable housing that meets their needs without experiencing an excessive financial burden.

CBD Guiding Principles

The City of Mount Gambier Strategic Plan outlines several points connected to informing the development of the CBD Guiding Principles to consider when making decisions which concern the CBD and by consequence the heart of the city of Mount Gambier.

Sport Recreation and Open Space Strategy

Following extensive community consultation and auditing of various outdoor spaces, the Mount Gambier Sport, Recreation and Open Space Strategy was released in April 2022. The strategy provides a strategic direction for Council’s 58 open spaces including recreation spaces, sporting spaces, nature spaces and public realm spaces.

The strategy strategically guides the future provision, development and management of open space in the city over the next 10 years and beyond, responding to potential community needs, issues, gaps and opportunities associated with open space and support existing and future communities and visitors.

Limestone Coast Region Plan

The Limestone Coast Region Plan guides future land use and development in the region. The plan is one of seven regional volumes that, together with the 30-Year Plan for Greater Adelaide, make up the South Australian Planning Strategy.

The State Planning Commission, supported by Planning and Land Use Services of the Department for Trade and Investment, is commencing preparation of a new regional plan for the Limestone Coast region. The regional plan will spatially map the South Australian Government’s long-term vision for growth in the Limestone Coast region.
